Dresser Makeover

You will need:
  • Paint Brush
  • Sandpaper
  • Paint of your choice
  • Bucket of Soap and Water
  • Screwdriver
  • Primer

  •  To begin, start by lightly sanding down the dresser. A medium to fine sandpaper should remove any unnecessary gunk or lacquer. You do not have to get too crazy with the sandpaper. Remove any hardware on the dresser. Fill a bucket of soap and warm and scrub the dresser.  Make sure to clean all the nooks and crannies! Once the dresser is all dry, you can move onto the next step.

  • Choose a desired paint color. Spray painting is an option, but using a brush is most effective, and leaves a more appealing finish. For my dresser, I chose an aqua blue/turquoise color, of course! Unfortunately, I do not have the exact color match any longer, but a similar color would be the Valspar Mystic Sea 5007-7A. Depending on the color of your dresser, you may need to apply a coat of primer before painting.  My dresser was white, so I lucked out and did not have to use a primer.

  • Once  you remove the drawers, you can start painting! A couple coats should get the job done. I suggest waiting about two hours between coats. To protect the finished dresser, you can also apply a clear coat after you are all finished painting.

  • The final result!
